Protein Synthesis Lab
How are proteins made?
Proteins are made by mRNA reading code of of DNA in the cell nucleus. The are copied onto the mRNA and sent to a ribosome to create a protein. This uses the RNA to get info to make a protein. It reads the patterns on the codon chain and creates an amino acid. This stacks up and makes a amino acid chain. These amino acids fold and create a protein.
I saw in my experiment that deletion is the most affecting of the different mutations. The others didn't change as much as deletion, which changed most of the proteins. The reason that it is worse than the others is because it would take away the chance of getting the same amino acid. What did I use to change the protein?
I used insertion to insert a stop code to end it as soon as it started

Well in reality mutations are really common and can change you and your kids. It creates cancer and can kill. The problem with mutations is that the earlier they develop, the worse they are. Some times we may have mutations and they are corrected and some help us.

This rare mutation is better for lobsters than than their usual red, but it is very rare. This is an example of a good mutation. It makes it a more diverse and have more genes. An interesting fact is that a pure crimson lobster is 5 times more rare than a blue lobster
